First Book Drive

We're putting 40,000 free books in the hands of kids who need them. Here's how you can help. Attend the April 14th Chapter meeting at 5:00 to view a short video on the First Book program and sign up!

When we get 2,000 registrations, First Book will donate 40,000 free, brand new books for children in low income schools, nonprofits and programs like Head Start, We are including all of the Chapters in Zone 1of OSEA and Washington County and will be contacting The Presidents at each of The Zone 1 Chapters. If you have friends or school staff in Hillsboro or other Washington County schools that are not part of OSEA, please contact Dianna Hess or Anna Taylor to provide their contact information and we will get them the paperwork needed to participate.

Giving a child a book is like planting a seed. Just like one little seed grows into something much larger, a book can cultivate a lifelong passion for reading and put a child on the path to lifelong success.

"Not all of our BSD Communities Children have access to home libraries. OSEA Chapter 48 members would like to be a part of their "First Step" to Literacy... making sure all of our children will have an opportunity to begin that library."

Our First Book Committee Members are Dianna Hess, Anna Taylor, Lisa-Karen Donnely, Deborah Keller. Feel free to email any member for additional information or to be a key person at your site.
