UMS Adjuncts: Check Your December 2017 Pay Stub For Correct 2% retroactive pay
Under the new University of Maine System contract with PATFA, a 2017-18 pay hike of 2 percent is retroactive to Sept. 1, 2017. So, December 2017 pay stubs should have a line under “Hours and Earnings” that says, “Retroactive Payment.” It should show a dollar amount that is 2 percent of your Sept. 1-Dec. 31 teaching.
PATFA urges you to check the math. If you have questions, direct them to payroll@maine.edu.
The new contract covers 2017-19, so part-time faculty should also see a 2 percent increase in their 2018-19 pay.

SB 1502 sec 164 (the "Budget Bill") enacted legislation establishing a new state agency: the Office of Health Strategy (OHS). The Office of Health Strategy will include employees who are currently employed by the Department of Public Health and the entirety of employees assigned to the Office of Health Care Access. Today marks a major victory for Michigan school employees, as the Michigan Supreme Court unanimously ruled to return more than a half billion dollars illegally taken from school employees in the long-running 3 percent case.
2017-18 BFT Survey of Employee Satisfaction
BFT conducts a Survey of Employee Satisfaction each year as a service to BISD and its employees. The purpose of the survey is to identify what is working well in the district as well as the areas that need improvement. This goal is in line with BFT’s mission, which is to improve pay and working conditions for employees and achievement for students.
